It's Criminal
Don't know what's more annoying - my own family forgot my birthday, or my mom posted my age on Facebook. Not feeling pitiful, actually kind of laughing, with a little help from the song of the day:

Relentless
The word of the day is "relentless". It describes the headache I had all day, as well as the thoughts that are keeping me awake. So, to think about anything else but that...
- The possible move to DC is off the table, but not permanently, just for now.
- I am about to embark on kicking the caffeine habit again. Wish me luck.
- My mom and my aunt will be here the week after next. Actually excited about it. Check again in a couple of weeks.
- I don't have a Facebook account, but continue to get about 5-10 friend requests per day. Apparently, someone who shares sexy pics and has an email similar to mine DOES have an account. I can't solve the problem without creating an account, so I spend 5 minutes a day deleting friends I don't have from an email I rarely check.
- I heard a song today that reminded me of someone I used to hang out with. We worked and partied together when I lived in Denver. Our nicknames were The Queen and The Princess. We were groupies of a local bar band and put these down as our names for their mailing list. Then we would drive all over town to listen to them play so-so cover songs in crappy hotel bars. One particular night we drove halfway to Thornton in the snow to hear them play at a Super 8. The two things I remember from that night are that my hot pink pants clashed very badly with the green and orange patterned carpet, and that a mirrored wall is good for practicing dancing if you dance like Axl Rose (me) or like someone who would have this song dedicated to her (Sandra):

Crazy Busy
I have several things going on that I need to update before I forget, but I can't seem to find the time. Only taking time to post a song I heard yesterday that I have always liked.

Ellie and Bubba J - The End
It's over. No big declaration or epiphany, not even anything specific. Not that anybody's asking, but let's just say that I invoked the Mom Rule - It's over...because I said so.
And because this is strictly an internal decision, I don't really have to explain the childish compulsion to test the elasticity of the rule. But I will say that when this song came on today, I listened all the way through with changing it - just to see if I could.

Dixie Chick
Heard this today and remembered how much I used to like them. Before the idiot local radio stations scrubbed them from the playlists in favor of Toby Keith. And before I discovered YouTube :)

No time to blog. For that matter, barely time to sit down, and when I do I fall asleep. Medicine makes me thirsty and sleepy, but doesn't solve the problem, so I quit taking it (mostly). Stinkin' allergies. The longer I live in the south the more I hate it.
No time to clean up the ginormous wolf spider that I captured under a plastic travel cup. No worries, not home long enough to sit at the table for meals anyway. Baseball season kicks off with a tournament this weekend, then games starting next week. Half the practices have been rained out and I am still exhausted. Might help if I didn't spend so much time trying to keep L out of the infield sand. Or infield sand off of my floors.
Finally took time to post this:
The Dylan version is still the best, and the Clapton version on You Tube is a cleaner recording, but this one was my favorite I could find.
Happy Weekend
Oh, and I almost forgot - I think I am planning a birthday weekend to go to the Johnny Cash Festival :)

Hearing this song everywhere and liking it very much:
I reserve the right to replace this with the James Taylor version if I find it :)

Thumbs Up/Thumbs Down
Thumbs down first:
Rainy weather (wouldn't be bad if it wasn't 40 degrees too)
Head lice
Birds that keep trying to build a nest under the porch
Thumbs up:
Saturday went really well. I think everyone had fun.
It's confirmed - D is super smart :)
Got an unsolicited compliment from my boss, which almost never happens!
The Social Network
And this:
Heard it the other day. I have always liked this song, but almost never hear it played for some reason.
Oh yeah, and a big thumbs up to Butler!!!

Just Say Yes
I have heard this song three times in two days:
Corny, but it is taking my mind off the f***ing computer virus I have been trying to remove since yesterday. (I know how how it happened and the guy is literally a dickhead.) Also keeping me from thinking as much about the happiness issue. If the computer starts cooperating again, I will post the link and the thought(s).

Strange Dreams
Last night's dream started with a hometown basketball tournament, complete with a fish fry, and ended with my pseudo sister-in-law and I being serenaded by some skeezy biker standing on a cafeteria table singing this song:
Stressful times right now, especially for a control freak who is in control of nothing, but I am pretty sure it was just a random dream.

I Need Coffee
Lies I have told purposely to children:
Burning questions I have:
- I told B that Radio Disney, which is located in my office building, only broadcasts for a 5 mile radius. I was afraid if I let him put it on, I would have to listen to it the for whole hour on the way home.
- I told the neighbor kid, after repeated requests to swim completely naked in our pool, that the chemical we put in it would make his boy parts shrivel up and fall off.
Burning questions I have:
- How does putting someone's name and dates of birth/death on the back glass of your car help you remember that person?
- Should I be concerned that every time I see someone who looks a little weird, they look at me and say or do something that implies they think I am the strange one?
- In what universe does my asking you a general question about your health equal you sending me copies of your x-rays?
- Why have I spent the whole afternoon listening to this?

Adventureland
Finally got to watch a movie I had been wanting to see for awhile. Can't explain why it has stuck with me, so I will fall back on the music (The Replacments! Husker Du!), especially this song:

Steve Miller and Sloe Gin
This song will always remind me of hanging out all night with L, T and Clark (not the one B got his middle name from). For some reason I was on a sloe gin kick around this time. Probably because it was cheap and easy to get :) Anyhoo, we hung out literally all night drinking and playing games and listening to Steve Miller over and over and over. It was one of the few times I showed up for work drunk. Not hung over, drunk. At 8:00 in the morning.

Oh Henrie, Part 2
Got a friend request from Brent, and heard this song on the same day. Interesting coincidence and a good reason to post a favorite cheesy song :)

These Boots
I tried several times to get a good picture of my boots, but with no success. Crazy, but the thought that kept going through my mind today was HOW MUCH I TOTALLY LOVE THESE BOOTS!!! So I had a moderately productive day, and in spite of the fact that it is probably going to be a loooong weekend with plenty to gripe about, I am ending this day by saying that I totally rocked the CFM boots :-)

Move On
Who really cares if the president wears flip flops? He was f***ing born in Hawaii, you crazy birthers.
Don Tyson dies. Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and Willie Nelson are among the honorary pallbearers.
In an effort to get Lady Antebellum out of my head (why is that song suddenly all over the radio again?), I ended up listening to this song all day:
